Buying stuff in a shop

rant rant rant, Salesmanship, yeah Wow! Is that ever a dying art.I love good salesmanship because I believe that people want to buy but they have to be talked into it. I want to be gently persuaded to buy something that I want when I am in a shop. I believe that MOST people enter a shop to BUY but they have to be sold on something they wont do it all of their own accord. I love it when a salesperson bounds up to me (if I'm feeling like being attended to in that manner) and notices that I am looking around at a certain type of thing. Then they DO NOT ask me If they can help me with anything because the ONLY answer to that is NO I'm just looking. But really I'm ready to be "helped" and WILL buy 9 times out of ten! My worst pet hates are being fobbed off, the salesperson looking over my shoulder at other people entering the shop in case they may be better prospectives (just watch how fast I am outta there) and not being attended to at all. My loves are great service, feeling great when I walk out of the place, finding a bargain, helpfulness, honesty, friendliness etc. and if you cant do these things 999 out of a thousand you shouldnt be a Salesperson. |
